2018 Baseball All Stars
May, 2018

Dear Parents of Ballard Little League Player(s),

It’s time to consider the District All Stars tournaments. This is an exciting and intense period of practice and play for our players, managers/coaches and league. Below is information specific to our baseball players ages 9 through 14. Information on softball will be provided separately.

Since All Stars is a much more competitive aspect of Little League than regular season play, only those players the assessors feel are ready for this higher level of competition will make the teams. We plan to field teams in four different age groups: 10u (open to league 9 and 10 year olds), 11u, 12u and 13/14. Each team is usually limited to a roster of 12 players with the possibility of up to 14. Players and parents should count on practice or games every day or nearly every day from mid-June through early-July.

There is no charge to participate, but players and parents must commit to attend all practices and games, and provide their own transportation to games (though teams will very often carpool.)

In order for a player to be considered for an All Star team, a Letter of Intent form must be completed via the Ballard Little League website (www.ballardll.net). The link is under the “Registration” tab, then click “Register Now.” Registration needs to be completed by 9:00pm Sunday, May 27, 2018 in order to be considered for a team.

After registering on the website, here is what happens:

· 13/14 (Juniors) Team: Players will be placed by a selection committee which includes the All Stars manager/coaches and Ballard Little League officials.
· 12u Team: League 12-year-old players may have to attend the All Stars tryouts on Sunday, June 10th. The League will keep players and their families posted on whether try-outs will be required for this age group.
· 11u Team: Players will be placed onto each team by a selection committee which includes the All Stars team managers/coaches and Ballard Little League officials.
· 10u Team: League age 9 and 10-year-old players must attend All Star tryouts on Sunday, June 10th, at Gilman. Players will receive further information on the exact time of their tryout.

All Star teams will be announced after the tryouts on June 10th. Every player who signs up will be called, whether they made the team or not.
· The 10u tournament will be hosted by Ballard Little League, and is expected to start around June 23rd.
· The 11u tournament is expected to be on the Northshore Athletic Fields starting around June 30th.
· The12u tournament is expected to be on the Mickey Merriam fields starting around July 7th.
· The 13/14s (Juniors) tournament is expected to be at Shorewood High School starting around July 2nd.

All tournaments are double-elimination tournaments and typically run for 5-8 days. The winner of each tournament progresses to the State tournaments which will be at various locations in Washington.

We are committed to making the 2018 All Stars experience a positive learning experience for all participants.

Thank you for your consideration!
